The loads we haul
Remodel gut-outs: drywall, plaster, framing lumber, cabinetry, flooring. Demolition debris from interior strips and small structures. Roofing tear-off. New-construction scrap and packaging. Both regional disposal ends take the stream — Rumpke’s Colerain Township landfill lists construction debris (drywall, brick, concrete), wood waste, and demolition debris among its accepted materials, and Bavarian Waste in Walton publishes an accepted C&D list that runs from brick, block, and concrete through wood, drywall, shingles, carpet, and scrap metal.
Roof tear-offs: quote the weight first
Shingles fill a weight allowance long before they fill a box. We size tear-offs by squares and layers, not by eyeballing volume, and the quote carries a fill line that keeps the load haulable. A 20-yard box with honest weight terms beats a 30 you can’t finish loading.
Heavy and inert debris
Brick, block, concrete, dirt, and asphalt ship as restricted-fill loads in smaller boxes. On the Kentucky side, Bavarian’s gate accepts all five by name; on the Ohio side, Rumpke lists brick and concrete under construction debris. Keep heavy material unmixed where you can — a clean single-material load gives the disposal end fewer reasons to argue. Name dense material at quote time; it changes the box, the fill level, and the terms.
Jobsite placement and the right-of-way handoff
A box inside the site fence or on the parcel keeps the plan simple. The moment the footprint touches a Cincinnati curb lane, sidewalk, or alley, the city’s open-street permit through DOTE comes first — and the container itself has to comply: company identification on two opposite sides and retroreflective markings, with the city able to refuse or revoke permits over noncompliant equipment. Covington adds its own wrinkles across the river: a container permit even on private property, No Parking signs posted 72 hours before a street drop, and a hard rule against sitting in a running lane. Storm work
Spring severe weather is part of the construction calendar here. In the March 30–31, 2025 outbreak, the National Weather Service confirmed seven tornadoes across its Wilmington forecast area — five rated EF0 and two EF1 — including a touchdown in West Chester. Tarp-and-repair turns into tear-off-and-rebuild fast after an event like that, and storm loads mix roofing, framing, fencing, and soaked interior material. Weight terms, street permits, and what the gate will take.
Do I need a permit to put a dumpster in the street in Cincinnati?
Yes — a construction-and-demolition roll-off may sit in Cincinnati public right-of-way only after an open-street permit is obtained through the Department of Transportation and Engineering, and the container itself must carry the required identification and retroreflective markings. Settle it before the delivery date.
Can I fill a whole dumpster with concrete?
Concrete ships as a restricted-fill load in a smaller box, because the weight limit arrives long before the volume limit. Both regional disposal points accept the material — tell us it is concrete, block, or masonry at quote time and the terms will match the load.
Can one box take mixed C&D debris?
Yes. Mixed remodel debris — drywall, lumber, flooring, cabinetry, roofing — is the normal construction load. Keep the banned items out (liquids, tires, batteries, hazardous cans), and tell us if a heavy fraction like masonry is riding along, because it changes the fill terms.
